Thomas Edison did NOT invent the telephone. Christopher Columbus did NOT discover America. Benjamin Franklin did NOT discover electricity.

These are all facts, based on misnomers the whole world believes because of popular usage. Edison invented the tech that eventually led to the conception of the telephone. Columbus discovered the West Indies - the closest he came to the States was Cuba. And Franklin merely posited the existence, proving it by coming up with a makeshift form of transference. But ask any dip-shit on the street and they will fight these facts to the death.

This is a problem with popular thought - a kind of mass collective of ‘information’, the precursor to Wikipedia. It is the worst weapon against intelligence and common sense in the universe, and it is unfortunately gaining strength. What does that mean, exactly? It means people are walking around with a head full of incorrect information, and it is leading to unbelievable stupidity.

These are the tidings of Corey Taylor himself, one of the instigators behind the dominant music that is of Slipknot. Now I’m not saying I’m as cerebral as he evidently is, but when I read an article I came across in a magazine, he couldn’t have put it in a more accurate way, that this world we live in, based on the mainstream populace, is nothing but a large ball of inanity, and it is a damn shame that most of us fail to unlock our minds to the truth, instead of going along with the flow of what the majority fancies to be correct. Parents try to conceal the actuality from their children, the same way leaders kick the truth under the mat, veiled away from their flock’s erudition, unknowingly forcing them to be oblivious to what’s real and what isn’t. I frankly don’t care even if it was done for protection or with the best of intentions. It’s still wrong. And when it’s wrong, it’s fucking wrong.

It’s not only about those who propagate erroneous information, but also those who don’t bother to go out the boxes and figure out the world for themselves. It’s vastly inane beyond my comprehension, but what could be done? It constantly sets my temper up in flames, but at least it’s comforting to bask in the solace of the fact that there are still individuals out there, like Corey, who are striving to make a difference, because they truly and honestly care.

And in his own words, “I see the potential on a million faces and I hope beyond hope we can find our destinies, in the truth, and in the facts.” Very well said.

Eh.. the media with all their hypes and fads, then the people with all the conformity, nothing new. But damn, the quotes from Corey are really inspiring.
